Redox dynamics of later Cambrian oceans

چکیده
A growing body of evidence suggests that the deep oceans during early Paleozoic Era were widely oxygen deficient, despite for increased marine oxygenation Neoproterozoic. However, temporal and geographic extents dynamics reducing conditions within these are not well understood. Here, we investigate redox history Drumian through earliest Jiangshanian International Stages Cambrian Period, using concentrations redox-sensitive metals (vanadium, uranium, molybdenum), iron speciation, Mo isotope stratigraphy Alum Shale Formation Scandinavia. These data suggest a major perturbation occurred in trace metal cycling later Period was linked to transient change coincident with well-known Steptoean Positive Isotope Excursion or SPICE. The ?98Mo measurements shale show systematic variations interval contains SPICE which broadly consistent expansion sulfidic, environments — indicating significant exacerbation an already-common condition Period. Additionally, speciation record local transition from predominantly anoxic, ferruginous (Fe+2 containing) euxinic (sulfide water column near initiation Trace abundances, however, appear decline before start SPICE, suggesting earlier global environments. More broadly, our modeling support notion portions remained deficient throughout portion Cambrian, also prone intervals more similar Oceanic Anoxic Events Mesozoic.

The Cambrian conundrum: early divergence and later ecological success in the early history of animals.
Diverse bilaterian clades emerged apparently within a few million years during the early Cambrian, and various environmental, developmental, and ecological causes have been proposed to explain this abrupt appearance. A compilation of the patterns of fossil and molecular diversification, comparative developmental data, and information on ecological feeding strategies indicate that the major anim...

Cambrian Lattices
For an arbitrary finite Coxeter group W , we define the family of Cambrian lattices for W as quotients of the weak order on W with respect to certain lattice congruences. We associate to each Cambrian lattice a complete fan, which we conjecture is the normal fan of a polytope combinatorially isomorphic to the generalized associahedron for W . In types A and B, we obtain, by means of a fiber-pol...
متن کاملDynamics in transient complexes of redox proteins.
Recent studies have provided experimental information about the initial stage of protein complex formation, the encounter complex. This stage is particularly important in the weak and transient complexes formed between electron transfer proteins and their partners. These studies are discussed and the role of the encounter complex is interpreted in terms of the specific requirements that the bio...
